Pastor Appreciation. . .

October is Pastor Appreciation month, and while there are several Pastors I am thankful for today's post is about one of those pastor's wonderful wife! When Andrew and I were called to Danville, we made fast friends with Jason and Casey Barber. Jason had been the Senior Pastor here at North Main for about 6 months when we were given the privilege to come alongside them and begin serving the city of Danville. I remember a conversation I had with my mom about a month after we moved here. I told her that of the churches we had served I had never felt so much a part of a ministry team. It wasn't just the Pastors of the church. It really was a team of families serving alongside one another to bring the light of the Gospel to our new city. A huge part of it feeling like a team was the hospitality and togetherness that was taught by our Pastor and his family. Casey never failed to take an opportunity to welcome the staff families into her home. Every staff member that was brought in to Danville while they were here stayed at their house at least once. It was not because the church would not get them a hotel room, but because Casey's spiritual gift is hospitality, and it would not do for someone to have to spend the night in a stark hotel room. It is evidenced in how often she opened her home and her heart to others. Not just prospective staff members, but anyone. Not just once or twice a year, but often. I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to serve alongside Jason and Casey for 5 years, but most of all I am grateful to be able to call Casey not only a mentor, but one of my best friends. Casey, I appreciate you, and all you pour into others. You and your family are in our prayers as you guys serve in Georgia. Thank you for your friendship.
